MCS-DRM Test Installation carried out in Spain
TRANSRADIO successfully completed the DRM test installation at the station Pozuelo (Madrid) in Spain. The DRM installation was carried out from the 06.06.2007 to the 13.06.2006 by TRANSRADIO, the Axion staff of the transmission station, the provider Cadena /SER and Vimesa. Furthermore, the University of Bilbao will be involved in additional tests. The objective of the DRM test is to transmit in MCS (Multi Channel Simulcast) on a currently not used antenna on site (antenna 2). Multi Channel Simulcast is the simultaneous transmission of an amplitude modulated signal and a DRM signal in a neighboring channel by employing only one transmitter. The DRM signal was transmitted at a frequency of 1251 kHz and the AM transmission was on 1260 kHz. In order to test the DRM quality of antenna 2, a pure DRM test was performed.
To conduct the test, TRANSRADIO delivered a TRAM 25 transmitter (25 kW carrier power), several filters, an antenna tuning device, a Fraunhofer Content Server, an M-Audio Delta 1010 sound system and a DRM signal generator DRM-DMOD2.
“This is another very significant test installation for TRANSRADIO,” said TRANSRADIO’s CEO Jochen Huber. “Broadcast providers are serious about responding to the challenge of moving to DRM, and it is TRANSRADIO that they are overwhelmingly turning to for support.”
The manager of Vimesa Mr. Pedro Muniesa said: “The DRM installation was going well. TRANSRADIO’s engineers were doing very good work. Cadena SER and AXION were satisfied and really impressed by the work - well done. “
